What Rorshok is

Rorshok is several things at once.

An set of experiments

We're trying out different ways for people to meet, talk, make things, organize and build communities together. Ideas show up, we build a bit, see what works, change, and try again.

A community

We’re a group of people trying to make our own lives, our communities and the world a little better. Most of us are volunteers. We work together, learn from each other and have fun doing it.

A collection of tools

We create ways for people to come together, meet new people, pass on knowledge. If you care about something, the best thing you can do is connect with others people who also care and build a community. Our tools can help.

A new type of organization

Rorshok itself is an experiment around how an internationally dispersed group of people can do cool things and have fun while avoiding bureaucracy and neoliberal hyper-capitalism.

A finance experiment

Rorshok will have no shareholder distributions or profit but we will be sustainable. All revenue will go towards our mission but we will not be dependent on donors. We want to put into practice, "enough not more".

A commons

In general, we're not so big on ownership. We want things, methods, and knowlege we figure out to be useful to anybody and to spread. That's why they're free.

So how does Rorshok make money?

Mostly ways for people to meet, talk, organize, make things and build communities. We don’t assume we already know the right answer. We try something, see what happens, keep what works, change what doesn’t, and then try again.

People who want to make their own lives, their communities and maybe the wider world a little better. We’re volunteers. We work together, learn from each other, try useful things and, importantly, try to have fun doing it.

Tools that help people find each other, meet, share knowledge and build communities around things they care about. Our basic assumption is pretty simple: if something matters to you, finding other people who care about it is the way forward and is also fun.

Not really. I mean what is normal? What’s normal these days is often pretty messed up. Rorshok itself is an experiment. We’re trying to work internationally, do ambitious things and stay human without creating endless bureaucracy, corporate hierarchy or the usual pressure for everything to become bigger, richer and more profitable.

We want Rorshok to support itself without shareholders taking profits and without becoming dependent on donors. Money we earn goes back into the mission. The principle is “enough, not more.” And whenever possible, what we create becomes part of the commons. So... to answer your question, we’re not sure. That said... buy one of our cool t-shirts.
